Torcan that worries me cause my daughters live in chicago and their 25 yr old step dad just bought a 18 foot ski boat....Ive already said NO, but 1000 miles away, im sure im not being listen to. And Im sorry the hijack was my fault...rambling again

Just find out if they are planning on using the boat on Lake Michigan, or one of the many small Lakes in Michigan. If Lake Michigan, as long as it is close to shore and in the sheltered Harbours, shouldn't be a problem.
THANKS!! makes me feel a little better, but.... UHG hes a young cocky...***** anyway... my Girls know safe boating, % years on the water at age 13 and 10 now. Im sure they will be the voice of reason!! Thanks for looking into that, very cool of you!!

Lake Erie is connected to Lake Ontario, albeit by a canal called the Welland.
And Toronto is not really that far away

What about the Niagara river it connects the two lakes also.

Actually... I'm not sure the draft would let it go over, might get hung up on the rocks before

Good one though, had a good chuckle, but horrible visual.

keeps me docked way more than I wish to be.
You should charter my F32 on Georgian Bay this Summer while I'm on the Tennessee river.

Where you getting fuel for $4/gallon?
OBama's Energy Secretary Chu wants us to pay $8/gallon. Crazy.

Don't forget the Erie Canal will take you from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario also.

That's what my tri-cabin burns and I have done the $8k in 2 weeks for fuel; but to be fair we traveled a long distance, had a great time, and it took 14 days. Total cost was $10K. By comparison, I flew the family to Disney World 8 years ago for 5 days, stayed at the Polynesian Resort on the inside, had great food, great times, and spent nearly $10K for four of us. Personally, my wife and I liked the boat trip better, but I am a little biased. The kids liked Disney World better.
I guess it's a matter of perspective and I am glad you are not leaving boating, just changing boats. Good luck on the sale of your F-36 and your search for a new boat. Looking for your next boat is always a great adventure.
Dad drove us to Wally World once. The rest of my life was on the boat. Liked the boat better!!!!

Might clear the rocks, but a LOOOONG way down... Sometimes it takes days to find the stuff/people that are held under by the current.... (and with the rocks, they don't tend too look too good afterwards).
If needed, I will stick to the Welland!

not sure about world prices but street value for gas is 3.60$ to 3.78$ here in Hampton Roads and desiel is 4.06$ got alot of friends that used to laugh at me when they bought deisels. they arnt laughing now but it always goes back and forth. hopefully we wont see these prices stick and can get to our normal life styles. I dont like how fuel is higher on the water around here. seems gouging to me, but what do I know, I just pay it....

Well the fuel thing has me wondering too. Down here what ever the street price is, add a dollar for the marina. I am not sure I would sell my 32 but I might drop a couple of 6's in place of the 8's if it gets really bad.

thanks for bringing that up, i thought about 6's as well but the weight issue thro water makes me think they will either burn up or need to much attention. They would in MO work overtime, less fuel yes but hard on the motor. LOved my jeep stright 6s Oh so easy to work on
