I am a big fan of that type of hose clamp, and use them a lot. They are much better than the worm-type clamps, but they have their shortcomings. If you go to the link and look closely, you'll see that each side of the clamp relies on two spot welds. I've seen bad spot welds break. For that reason, I would still double clamp if I was using these in any location where their failure could sink the boat.

Posting at the same time Jeff my time on post is an hour fast....

As far as spot welds giving. I've to many worm gear ones strip....but to each one his own...we all have our likes....

double clamping was required by my surveyor for insurance purposes
