Ready Thats they way they do when you install many diesels the dip sticks are not marked from the factory . The same thing should work with gas , but many engine are have premarked dipsticks

they said they aligned the engines up with the old bolt holes from the motor mount that where there before. But the strb engine shaft at the strut is fwd about 3/8 of an inch. I can clearly see the clear spot on the shaft where it used to ride inside the cutlas bearing.
Also it is very hard to adjust the dip stick after the amount of oil is added to the engine if it wont read on the dip stick. Just getting the tip wet is not enough on the stick to make a mark imo.
I had the shafts set where they were riding in the exact spot in the cutlas bearings when I left for the bahamas. I told my dad this is where they need to stay and to match the engines to the shafts and the old bolt holes. Port side is right on, stb side is high and fwd. No worries I will fix it. Been working on this for months. I know this boat like the back of my hand.
