I would suggest you take her out every afternoon during treatment when the weather is good. That summer fresh air in your face will do wonders for your recovery. I can't see why this would not be possible to single hand the boat... I have done that on my F32 all the time and I have to come down the ladder to get the lines on once I bring her alongside.... your route is a little easier.
It's a twin so easy to handle alone....

Hell once you start asking people to come out for a ride you'll be surprised how many will join you.
Even if you end up without a first mate why would you want anything smaller... think of how ideal the tri is for sitting on the hook, taking strangers on board for overnites???

AAron you need to put more effort into thinking positive and enjoy/use what you have. Maybe this is the incentive you need to make using the tri on the water a priority in life..... I have had the impression you did not go out on it much previously.

Easy guys!! We are all humans! We take things differently from one to another. Boating, driving, death, marriage, illness.... etc

I'm sure Aaron has a master plan and knows how he feels "how he" needs to exacute it.... Let's just back him up and help him along!

This forum should be an escape not a dudgeon full of opinions for him. Even if I just crossed that Line myself! My prayers are with you Aaron, I kinda know what your going through......chin up and drive her if you can!!!

Hate to see you get rid of the tri-cabin but reality is reality and priorities are priorities. Do what's best for you!
tim, i'm going to beat this and win and be better than before.

Commissionpoint wrote:Keep your chin up Aaron. Its the trials like these in our lives that allow us to really grow and learn as individuals. I have a good feeling about your medical prognosis, and I am confident you will come through this well.

I understand your confused feelings about the boat too. My 2 cents is to advise you to keep it. Its been sitting the pier for awhile now, and whats a bit longer. Getting it out and doing the bottom and running gear like you suggested might be just what you need to help get you focused on a project (which we all know you love) and keep you moving like the doctors want.

You can be taught to single hand that thing. It may sound like an outrageous idea and an incredible challange to you right now, but I assure you it can be done. After you do it successfully a few times you will wonder to yourself what it was you had gotten yourself all anxious about. I single hand the F-32 all the time. At night, in weather, or just plain calm daylight. Unless whoever is on board with you is a knowledgable boater as well, most of the time extra people just get in the way anyhow. If I can do it, you can do it. Get that prop changed out and I will come down after your treatment and show you how easy it is if you want. :)
amazing.... you would actually schlep all the way down here on my behalf? wow. i'm impressed. i'm looking forward to it buddy. hell, i'd love to have any and all from the site onboard. (eeekkkkksss no repeat of the silverton in new york please!!!) i appreciate it buddy. you have an open invitation as does any one else on the site.

I agree

Fix her like you plan , then use her some and then decide , I have single handed many boats bigger then that . yes I may have more experience , But how do you think I got it ?Get Her hauled and the prop fixed . then take her out , I will take a day and go , I bet Allen and Mike will do the same .

Chin up be determined take Care of yourself then the boat . You have a crew standing by ! the battle will be won .

You had a dream of the tri cabin . and now you have one
so LIVE THE DREAM , and next year no mater if you sell or keep it , You will have done it !
true... very true guys..... so paul, when are YOU coming up?

Aaron,

just about one year ago I almost kicked the bucket due to a collapsed lleft decending anterior atery, (widow maker) I thought I had the flu, then heart burn, but the gut said it was more so I saw my doctor and told him of the symptoms, he said dont be surprised if it is acid reflux but referred me to a cardiologist, he also said it sounded like acid reflux, I pressed for a stress test, well, 16 minutes on the tread mill, clear EKG and on the surface, a good ultrasound, but, the lovely young (hot) gal that did the ultrasound spotted the artery. The doctor said holy ***! which of course put a bit of concern in me, but at least it was found. they put a stint in the artery, and a year later I am doing great.

While I know that what I went through and what you are going through is completely different, I pondered the same decision.

I was in the middle of a repower, glass, bottom etc, while all of the projects were delayed, having them on the horizon helped me keep my eye on the ball.
Boiled chicken, turkey burgers, prescriptions drugs out the wazoo can be quite depressing, but going down to the boat and just "sitting" was therapy in its own.

You have to make the descision, but I know what I did, and I am glad I did.......

best wishes and you are in our prayers

jeff, i'm still open to flying down to norfolk after your boat is finished to lend a hand with handling her. you and i share a unique perspective it seems. both of us are 'fighting' and you know what, as dismal as things might appear, i think it's the 'fight' that keeps us going. besides, NO ONE can look after and take care of maccabee like i can. and he's going to be a big part of my healing. even my oncology team tells me not to shy away from him. they said let him take care of you, let him cuddle with you and yes, let him even lick your face. he's hurting as much as you are because his instincts are telling him something is wrong with the pack leader. how true that is. he's been sticking to me like a post it note since diagnosis day one. he even cuddles under the blanket near where the tumor is. and will not leave that side.

your kind thoughts buddy are an inspiration as is your story. i think that's what i love about this group the most. we all have been fighting something in the course of our boating careers. but, i think it's our love of boating, and our passion, that keeps us motivated enough to do the things we do. i hope to meet you sometime when i have a layover out your way once i return to fight status. it would be an honor indeed.

as for your cardiac (young lady). i'll raise the stakes. when i met my radiation oncologist's assistant, i could NOT believe how beautiful and compassionate she was. (her skirt was shorter than her medical coat!!) and legs for days. okay, i might 'play ball for a different team', but i can still appreciate a beautiful woman. petite build, GREAT figure (runner build, think southern california), waist length blond hair and crystal clear blue eyes. her name is amy. and i'm surprised she can even walk with the height of her heels. (the heels accentuate her well sculpted calf muscles to say the least) and she smells terrific. and she wants to see the boat when i'm healed. and yes, she's married guys, so hands off!!! she's mine.

i don't have amy's bio, but, meet my team. check out the bios on them.

this is my new primary care physician and immunologist------
http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/doctors/ ... fingerhood

this is my oncology coordinator and the one that will administer the over all care------ http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/doctors/ ... ne-browner

and this is the radiation oncologist who will administer the electron beams to 'melt away my tumor'. young, but he is smart and wicked cool.
check out his bio.

all in all, i've assembled a kick ass (no pun intended) team.

not to worry my friends, i will get a pic of amy. i'll even make a special request that she wear something 'sexy'. i fully intend to document my progress as you all have seen thus far.

dr. herman is 38 and my niece is totally in love with him (he has a video on the pancreatic cancer side of his bio). you know what, he's really cool and yet he knows his stuff. i complimented him on his publications and he blushed and said, ''well, in all honesty, the website needs to be updated. i've actually been published 25 times.'' modesty accepted dr. herman, just rid my body of the cancer and we will all be even.

he is on the cutting edge of a lot of treatments and has done a ton of research. it was an instant bond i felt when i met him the first time. then again, all my medical team members i've bonded with very easily. i'm confident . now, hopefully nothing will happen to 'mr. happy'.

dr. fingerhood is a really cool guy too. our first meeting was in his office and not an exam room. roughly two hours long, he said he wanted to know aaron the person before he knew aaron the patient. we are the same age, our birthdays are a week apart, and we share the same bar mitzvah week. his was 20 oct 1973 and mine was 27 oct 1973. his torah portion was בְּרֵאשִׁית‎, BereʾÅ¡yt, "In [the] beginning
and mine was noah--- נֹחַ
so, he had the beginning, and i had the ending. interesting to say the least, but, yet another bond i share w/ my medical team.

have faith my fellow trojaners.... i'll get that pic of amy asap.
