Matt the f26 has one engine? I will be putting each engine into the mini 4", it may be quieter as more power pulses closer together. 8 into one verses 4 ito one.

Hi Larry,
You're correct, my F-26 has one engine rated at 330hp. The boat came originally with dual 3" exhaust, it was upgraded to a 4"system during the repower. It has a nice throaty sound to it. My annoying noise wasn't the mufflers, but the exhaust hangars vibrating. I have since insulated them with sound proofing material and it's much much better. Good luck with the project, look forward to the results.

centek can also customize a muffler for any application. they made the exhaust concentrators for the underwater system on the tri cabins and i believe on the f-40 as well. when i spoke to them last year, the tech said they had all of the original specs in their data base. they also said that if i did a repower, they can fabricate something with bigger inlets and smaller outlets and vice versa. might cost a little more,but, they are willing and able to work with any boat owner on what they need/require.
just tossing my two cents into the discussion.

Those are the muffs I have, but will put 8 cyls into one 4 inch which should make it quieter, as power pulses will be close together.

Thanks Larry for the photos and info, this will be very helpful as I intend to make exhaust extensions while my boat is in storage over the winter and fit them next summer. I am sure as Aaron and Matt have suggested new mufflers would reduce the noise, but I am thinking that the extensions would reduce noise and nuisance fumes on the aft deck. I found a post by Paul who made extensions for his exhausts and reported good results for both noise and fumes.
My intention would be to have the extensions only a few inches below the surface of the water so that when the boat is on plane the exhausts are out the water so forces on the extension should not be an issue. For some reason the noise does not seem to be troubling when running on plane at 2600 rpm and up, and certainly fumes on the bridge are not an issue.
I need to learn to upload photos as I have modified the cabin interior to get rid of the single bunk on the port side and widened the double bunk to 54" and changed the seating slightly. This gives a great amount of storage and the boat sleeps 4 very comfortably, I think the original 7 bunks was crazy.
I will post photos when I learn the system.

This is the rearranged seating configuration in the main salon. Seats and table top fold into a 54"x72" bed which is bigger and much easier to set up now.

Agreed on interior I have cleared the deck to the walls except galley and help/ electric center.
