i did a little calling around and found a place 2 miles from me that has sheets of mahogany for $82 a sheet 4x8x3/4
i think im going to scratch the birch and go that route

Scan some local boat yards/marinas.
I had a local place that was had prong a derilect F36. I snagged the mahogany trim along the tops of the salon windows. If I had the time and need I would have stripped the mahogany/ply walls and doors.
