Yes - boat is currently sitting in a building. Was thinking rail clamp, I could always remove it for winter, have to something similar on the pontoon anyway. Another one added to the list!

I think if the anchor light only was off center, that wouldnt be an issue, the regs are for a vessel under way

Thanks for the info,this topic hit one of the things I was going to do this spring,never liked that light on a stick that you need to be 7 feet tall to get to-----the idea of a short one low on the bridge and the one above is much better ,just trying to get around not having the arch and I believe diverted income has much the same issue ------my guess is if you put something on the railing it would vibrate like crazy ,that is why the mast style post off the side of the bridge would be good but I see what you mean about the boat centreline---Mike

Works great at night ( anchored) as i leave it on the top of the Bimini with the magnetic mount.

I must be the only guy to use my lower during the day and doesn't have an issue with the masthead at night up top.

I hate to think how that might change when I get old. Like you guys.

I recently had one of those electric chair lifts to get to the bridge so I feel a need to use it---lol

I second the complaint about Trojan putting light in your face. On my tricabin, there was a (too short to be legal) mast that holds a two-part white light. While running, only the front part is lit. At anchor the front and back are/were lit. I bought an LED light on a stick from We$t Marine and stuck it on top of the existing mast. Now it is tall enough to be seen from behind, is out of the skipper's line of sight at night, and being more directional, throws less light onto the deck. The light is attached to the tubing via an adjustable angle mount. I connected the wires with removable spade connectors to permit easy disassembly for shrink wrapping, etc. I split the difference between horizontal while underway, and horizontal while drinking. I plan to add a switch to the old transom light so that I can turn it into a patio light for the swim platform. Being an LED light, it also is less of a drain on the batteries. The old light was noticeably dimmer in the morning.

Careful bragging about your fancy accessories. Paul and Big D are gonna want one too now.

Thinking now of fold down mast light off the port side of the ladder. Can make my own mounts and use something like the Attwood 5500 series. Too bad there doesn't seem to be a two pin mount for those that wasn't made to be flush mounted in a deck. Will make my own connector. No big deal. Yes it will be off center, but the reg reads "as close to centerline as practical"

my F32 i believe has a taller mast light than newer ones, I dont have any problems with glare or view, I boat very often at night, if i had a hard top or arch thats where I would put it though, cheers

The tricabin stock Mast Light works pretty well for me. While underway, it's not in my eyes.

As most here prob already know, it's a fold-down, combination steaming and anchor light (dual bulbs) that is mounted at the bottom of the windshield and then reinforced about half-way up the windshield, with the aluminum mast itself extending in an mild S-shape up higher that the top of the windshield frame.

We like being out at night. While underway, only the front facing bulb is lit. In the middle of the transom I also have a white light.

When overnighting, I flick the mast light switch to "anchor" and both bulbs in the mast light come on. When I switch the green/red navigation lights to off, the rear facing white light also turns off.

The thing is, the damn thing was pretty flimsy and like Big D says, it needed to be folded down for storage - and of course the boys at the marina snapped it off while backing the boat into the shed for winter storage. I duck taped it the next spring and then tried real hard to replace it with absolutely no luck. So, I removed it and took it to a pipe bender who duplicated the original mast shape and then reassembled the hardware and re-wired it.

I heard a poem on the radio the other day entitled, "So much to do in so little time>" ...... and thought of all of us and these boats.

put my mast light back on last night both bulbs work as I had to test the different lighting configurations for the anchor and steaming, problem is in the darkness I may have shorted something out as the anchor swich only brings on the steaming,,,, running lights are fine,,, the steaming comes on with them ,,, both bulbs are good and the wiring in the lighting fixture is good as well... checked all the fuses ,,,, what next I'm going to look at the switch its self tomorrow
