Re: Carter AFB Question

Post by Beefshank »

Hello,

I'm brand new to the forum. I did a search and found this thread and this is exactly the problem I'm having. I have a 76 f26 with a 318 and it runs great but will not go above 3000 rpm, but with plenty of throttle left. I was actually going to start a thread and ask if that is normal, but I'm glad I did a search first!

So this is more of a bump to hopefully get more conversations going.

thanks.

Could be the same issue or something completely different . Some questions ,
Has it ever go over 3000 for you ?
if so how much and what has been changed since then ?
Has the tach been checked ?
last time bottom was cleaned ?
What size prop ?
Is the 4 barrel opening ?
What speed are you getting @ 3000 .

With some good info we can give you some ideas on a fix .

mine still has not been solved, I have a second set of props that are 14/9 they were 14/11 and had the prop shop reset them. Pretty sure I am over propped and not sure what is on the boat now. I have to get the tranny info, Beacon bob wants to check what it came with. I may have to go lower pitch, that would mean new props.
