Oil threads are always fun

If your worried about cold starts why not 0w-40 ? BTW I have pulled down engines that have set for a year or 2 and there is still oil on the bearings . ( reg oil ) have not pulled one that ran synthetic that sat that long .

Just something to think about .

We all have our favorite brands oil types grades etc , But honestly how often do you see a engine fail due to the type or grade ? (assuming changed as you should )
Never With that said Only 15w040 for me ( ex D.D. ) in my boats

I use a blend in my truck FWIW

Yup you are right about the engine failures, I was actually going to give the 0w-40 a shot but the 10w-40 had some seal conditioners

As far as engine parts I hear ya and the synthetic is slippery as hell after time fwiw. One thing for sure is there is lots of oil out there and just as many opinions, but I know you can make more power with a synthetic .

Always good info but too much worrying IMO. I'd worry more about ensuring regular oil changes are performed with ANY oil.
