I totally agree about the paint chemistry. I researched Imron, as it comes in Auto, Industrial, and Marine. All the way back to the factory agrees there is very little chemical difference. It also passes flex tests way beyond what fiberglass will need, so you don't need additional flex additive. Shot my F32 October, 2010. Real shiny.jefflaw35 wrote:Mark this is where the bickering begins. I used dupont. Auto paint. Yes everyone says Marine. Marine. Marine! You dont have to though. If you research the MSDS they are the same almost!. I bought a quart of flex additive. 30$ Cap full per every quart you mix on anything you mix. booom you have marine paint in auto verson. much easier, much cheaper! MUCH PRETTIER! I didnt like the AlexSeal or the alwgrip when I sprayed it. But I did do my homework with difference.

Thanks! great looking boat you have. I only added the flex additive to be safe. Probly dont need it. Most paints these days are very flexible, I agree. Thanks Torcan, cant wait t see the entire boat painted but it will be a long while before that happens.DAVIDLOFLAND wrote:I totally agree about the paint chemistry. Jeffrey, were you trying to be a PITA young man?
No worries, I think you know where I'm coming from and that we understand each other pretty good. Keep up the good work brother.

Sikkens was awsome when I had the chance to use it many years ago! All you had to do was learn how to spray water without running it and it was the prettiest clear I have ever seen. Their prices got so high nobody in town would buy it. I have to travel towards Maryland now if I want it!rossjo wrote:Sikkens on my Sunbeam .
Looks great, In a year or 2 your going to look back on it and say.. Remember when?
Great way to keep a diary of your progress. Easy to forget what was, when it all becomes new.
Good Luck
