The way mine works is : Starboard engine charges the starting battery. both engines use the starting battery. Port engine charges the house battery. If your starting battery dies, you push the emergency start switch & it transfers the power from the house battery to the starting battery to get the engines going. I like mine a lot.

Yours is set up diffrent then the two I have owned , but they are diffrent years

I posted the wiring diagram on my photobucket page if it'll help. Look for "emer start".
