Bucket list for the Paula Sea:
Part A)
a. Fix soft spots on Port side deck.
b. Redo hardtop. Previous Owner didn't do a permanent fix in my opinion.
c. New fuel tanks.
d. Paint top sides.
e. Full Canvas enclosure.
f. Install Autopilot
g. Convert to Yanmar or Cummins Mercruiser Diesel. (Will never happen but it's nice to dream)

Part B)
a. Meet up with everyone at Solomons, July 15 2011.
b. Do the NC loop.
c. Smithfield Station
d. Spend a long weekend at Bay Creek Marina.
e. Just cruise the bay when ever I get a chance.
f. ICW - Norfolk to Beaufort, NC.
g. Oh and go striper fishing. It's been blowing like crazy every weekend here. Haven't caught one yet this season.

Rossjo Generator

Post by davidsmith »

Rossjo, Your generator problem looks like it could be the R-2 or R-3 resistor (hopefully) but I suspect it is in the generator field. Start the generator and release the start switch while measuring the voltage at the S-1 terminal on your start solenoid. The generator should be outputting voltage to latch in the K-3 and K-4 relay. If there is no voltage the problem is in the generator shunt field circuit I think. If you do have 12 volts DC then one of the resistors is bad.You can also check the AC voltage output while the generator is starting to see if the generator is the problem. It should output voltage while starting just will not be full voltage untill generator gets up to correct speed.

I'll have to print this out and try it ... so - you don't think she putting out voltage?

I was suspicious of R2 (charging level adjustable 0-6ohm, 150W resistor) , but don't even know where R3 (decompression solenoid fixed value (?ohm) resistor) is located. Have to trace both down. My diagrams don't show a value for R3 ;-(

To Do:
Replace cabin floor joists
Repair soft spot on stbd bow deck or just dig in and do the whole deck
Restore topsides shine
Everthing else is pretty much done

To Go:

Another canal system trip, this time to Lake Erie and both Cayuga and Seneca Lakes, Champlain, and then down to Da City on the Hudson.
