anything is possible . But you would lose speed for sure. Just running a boat at hull speed or below will save lots on fuel . Thats why trawler do so well . they run at hull speed . they handle well at those speeds because thats what they designed for .

Add a small diesel and you have a boat thats much cheaper to run . And thats what Peter is looking for .

Bingo;my wife and I like to do 1-2 week cruises. ( may take a month next year if things work out)The last single diesel I looked at ( 38 foot Marine trader w 135 lewman ) burned 2.5-3 gal/hr at about 9 knot cruise. Makes 2 weeks on the boat actually affordable. My go faster days are over.Into comfort these days...( It's more the getting there than the destination that interests me.....).. still though selling the trojan's a little like giveing up my first real girlfriend...

Well heck! Considering I leave my inlet In all no wake zones and go no further than 5 to 10 miles every time I fish, I could care less how fast we get there. Why am I putting a V8 in this baby? Storm surges could be a good reason to get back fast I suppose. Lynnhaven inlet can be a scary place at these times
