I'm not sure why they would be out there during this storm. They left New England on Friday bound for st Pete. Sounds to me like driving straight for it. I am glad everyone was rescued.captainmaniac wrote:Sandy claimed The Bounty today!!

The bounty owners are saying that there was 17 onboard and they are all safe. I truly hope they are right.captainmaniac wrote:Not quite. 16 were on board, USCG only picked 14 people out of the lifeboats.summer storm wrote:I'm not sure why they would be out there during this storm. From the bounty web site early afternoon
This is a sad day. The storm hit the ship pretty bad. One of the generators failed and the ship was taking on more water than it wanted. Distress call was sent out and the coastguard rescued ALL 17 crew. We are very thankful for that. Bounty was left at sea to fend for herself with the prayers of many. May God protect the ship from sinking!
DON'T GIVE UP! kEEP THE PRAYERS COMING. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
We will let you know how things are progressing with the ship. Thank you for your prayers.
To our wonderful Captain Robin: You did a great job and the very best that you could. Thank you for your efforts and keeping the crew safe. God bless you sir.

Bad day, yes the Captain is still missing.
The Bounty was just refurbished, at a cost of millions. A real loss both in Human Life and the Ship itself.
I agree with summer storm, the Captain knew the storm was coming North...why even chance it? Especially in a Tall Wooden Ship
Ship constructed and was used in the making of Mutiny on the Bounty For the 1962 film
also was used in the making of
Pirates of the Carribean
Bad decisions,

Were in the thick of it right now. Spent 3 days down my shop getting ready for it. Been putting everything I own up on shelves . we had 3ft of water in the shop during Hurricane Irene and that floated my boat. With the storm surge expected basically I'm screwed! I have about 20 more hours of prep and I'm ready for awlgrip. Since Im close to painting it I have the mid-ship and stern cleats removed. ran chocker straps through the rod holders and tied the lines to the straps to keep it from knocking down the building. used large ratchet straps to strap the boat dollies to the boat so it lands back on them. If we get more than 5ft in the shop its going to rip through the roof! Really wish I was tied up safely in a slip somewhere!

Looks like Manhattan getting flooded right now. Water going into subway system. The broken crane looks really scary. Would hate to be anywhere around there when it comes crashing down.
She was a 1969 36 ft wooden beauty with big blue 440s that we'll miss forever.

if it doesn't blow off in the wind, it is going to be one heck of a job getting it removed.
Evidently, that building construction of the tallest condo in NYC
Meteorologists said winds atop the 74-story building could have been close to 95 mph at the time
