Codger,

I used all 4 original holes in the bracket. The hole pattern straddles the groove in the bow and yes the holes are right on the top edge of the groove. If you look closely at the back of the bracket in the picture you can see this. This way the groove is kept clear. There is a backing plate on the under side of the deck with the same hole pattern which is made of marine plywood. LifeSeal was used to seal things up on both sides of the deck.

I won't be at the boat again for a few days but I can take a few pictures then if you need to see more. Let me know.

:)

The one I got was a self launching model by Lewmar, looked just like the one in you pic, but it had 3 mounting holes in a triangular pattern. I ended up returning it and am ordering a similar one from Windline that is a couple inches longer and doesn't have any bolt holes so I can drill my own.

Thanks.

Saturday May 7th, today!!!
and my project is done :)
After I did the work, I took her out onto Lake Ontario for about 1 hour getting the feel of my new boat.
Loved it, but still need a lot of practise docking, took me about 30 minutes to finally get her docked. But she made it in.

Here is what I accomplished today!!
PS, didn't realize the swan paddled by until I saw the pic... we have about 14 of them here at the club

Oh yeah, extra fenders in rack are locked up, things have a tendancy to walk away.
