Don't know the type of trailer you're using but a wooden hull must be supported on it's keel even when the hull is in perfect condition. If the hull has issues and not transported properly, rollers or pads only may punch through. It could be worse than taking it by water!!

I'm not sure, I'm assuming he knows what he's doing sense he does this for a living (or hoping so!!) I know its a hydraulic trailer and he did say something about blocking the keel...

I know the trailer. As long as he has a keel kit, he should be good to go. Just hard to tell when getting her out of the water if the pads are set to the right hieght so all the weight is on the keel and not the pads, they are for balance. Cross your fingers.

yes, I'm not taking it back to my yard because of that reason. Its also a 14'10" beam, so it would need a double escort. Its basically coming out of the water and just down the street..... if I can work the deal.

Will do, thanks for all your help. I'll keep you posted, once she comes out of the water I may need a bit of info..... this whole things going to be a crap shoot. Not sure if you saw the link to the photos, but she's just too good lookin to let die....

Murray1886, Look at some of my old posts, I answered some questions about the 42fdmy a couple years ago. They may help.

i know the boat. We looked at it before buying our 1974 44'. (fiberglass)It will not make it through a lift. It was very tempting when we looked at it 5 years ago, but the thought of attempting to lift it and it falling apart drove me away. Ours is one that you have seen for sale. Not trying to sell mine to you, but if you ever want to enjoy boating don't buy that boat.

Is your boat listed on a sight? I've seen quite a few of them... which one is yours?

I think its on Craigslist for St. Louis or Lake of the Ozarks. We keep it for sale at a decent price just in case someones interested. The boat is very reliable, we took it out for 9 hours on Saturday. Just go about 10 mph and stop at restaurants all day. I think its listed for 59,000

I've seen it, very good looking boat. Wish I had 60k laying around! Thanks for the advice with the boat... I'm assuming it was in bad shape 5 years ago also? How long its been leaking was def going to be a deciding factor.....
