Putting the rings on.



Sliding the piston assy into a new sleeve.



Assemblys all boxed up ready to go down to the boat. The boxes worked great to keep the rod stable while in transport.

A look into the piston to see how the rod bolts to the slipper bearing and pin.



Here is the tool that we used to remove and install the new sleeves.
For those of you that are thinking that looks like a bearing hub, you are correct.
John from the machine shop machined the edge of it so it was a perfect fit sitting on a sleeve without being able to move. It really worked out well.




Rod bolt condoms on rod bolts to protect the bearing journel from nicks while installing.

I had to order a few gaskets and o-rings so not much more we could actually do at the time so we went back to Daves shop and returned to prepping parts.
We did a lot of blasting, priming and painting.

The next step is to put the oil pump back on and then the oil pan. After that I will clean the living ship out of the bilge and lower the enging back down onto it's mounts. That will be a glorious day.

You bet. We ended up with them all being the same.... right inbetween the min and max spec. I was pleased with that result.

well did you fire them up yet? You left us hanging. I hope it all turns out great for you.

We still are not done and it is very slow going for me as I have to go in for back sugery. That is going to screw up this summer for me for sure. As of now it looks like I am having it done at the end of June.

But, for an update, the oil pump is back on, the oil pan with the new pad heaters is installed. the bilge was cleaned and the engine now sits where it originally was. It was nice to see it lowered into place.
The tranny was bolted back up and the shaft has also been reattached.
We have to leave the frame work in for now as I am still waiting on the head to be finished. We will use the two chain falls to lower it back into place as there are a lot of little sealing rings that need to be in place at that time.
The oil cooler has been installed, the puke cans, a block heater (as long as the blower was off I installed a block heater also just in case I ever need it. I will keep it there and just not plug the pig tail in at this time) Some oil lines that supply the oil cooler( so much for the clean bilge as one of the rubber gloves ripped that we had over the hose ends and oil spilled all over the freshly cleaned bilge floor), the drive hub for the blower, and the last thing to go back on was the blower itself.

Sorry that it has been so long since an update but I was feeling very poorly for a while with the drugs that they had me taking and at this time of year we are really busy at work. Not to mention I am three guys short so it has been a bit rough lately.
I will get some new pics up soon.

Unfotunately it did not stay that way for very long.

I can't sit any longer as I have to get up and move around.
I will finish getting caught up after a little break.
