Cooling water.

Should water start coming out exhaust right after start up? Or stats need to open. Is equipped with FWC system also. As of now no water. Just checking before I did into new impeller. 78 F26.

Water should start coming out of the exhaust within a minute or two of startup. Since you are FWC the thermostat has no impact on the cooling water. The thermostat only affects your anti-freeze flow path.

Fresh water cooled is different than raw water? In raw water, flow should be evident almost immediately after startup (engine starts, water pump impeller starts spinning, water is pumped through the system but either goes through the engine or bypasses it based on thermostat -- but still shows up at exhaust within seconds). When I start up, by the time I walk to the transom water is coming out the exhaust.

Does fresh water cooling system actually not move the raw water side until the engine has been running for a minute or two?

FWC or RWC, some of the water is diverted right away/constantly to the exhaust elbows as the exiting exhaust must be kept cool at all times. Providing you have a good pump and the system is primed, the delay in water reaching the outlet depends on your exhaust system design. Longer runs and the type of muffler play a large roll. A lift muffler for example can be a while depending on where in the exhaust/lift cycle it's at. The muffler first fills with water before the exhaust pressure eventually forces most of the water out then needs to fill again. Even that shouldn't take very long.
