☀️NEW AND EXCITED PLEASE HELP! 73 Trojan
Good evening I just got my first ever boat in the water and running! 1973 Trojan (f 25 i believe) I am looking to upgrade the performance of this Chrysler 318 engine! I live where a river meets the great lakes and this engine running the way it does is very hard to get it under the bridge through the choppy water and into where the lake starts! The engine starts right up and runs great at very low speeds but when I press the throttle down It shakes a ton and I feel its not giving nearly the horsepower it should! It has been upgraded to electric ignition. My questions are what can I do and or what can i purchase to upgrade the performance significantly Im not looking to have a speedboat I would really just like to cruise at decent speeds! Thank you in advance i am super excited

Nice looking boat. My boat would shake at higher rpms until I had my propeller reconditioned. If the propeller is not true it can generate a lot of vibration once you start increasing the rpms.

Hopefully you had a pre-purchase survey done
This would show if there was excessive wear in the strut bushing(s)
It would also show what, if any issues you might have as it relates to WOT - wide open throttle RPMs
Do you know your WOT?
Bob Cushman could provide you with the correct number.

Sounds like you need to fix some issues not upgrade . Wot should be around 4000 rpm .You say its shaking , It could be a fouled or damage prop , also it could be missfireing , due to wires. plugs cap/rotor etc. But most likely a prop/running gear issue .

Thanks for some feedback! I also just ruined the impeller so I’m currently working on replacing that! It did run for about 10 minutes before i realized the temperature increase so hopefully I did not do further damage! Any other tips i would appreciate
