I've done it on a 1974 f-32. It's quite a bit of work and you'll need at least 4 very strong guys (or more) or a crane to get it off the boat.

The worst part of the job is unhooking all the wires (and labeling them), disconecting the steering, throttle and tranny controls as well as any electronics transducers etc that run down. Once thats all clear, then you still have to remove the seat, main instrument/steering console and the rear railings and ladder.

Then you can start on the actual bridge surround. That involves removing the interior panels and all the screws inside, then removing the perimeter screws (many will likely be stripped or barely holding). Then you can pull the top (hopefully if none of the previuos owners haven't bedded it dwon with 5200).

It's not terribly difficult, just very time consuming and awkward to physically move.

Just as Jav described it. Just a bit time consuming...

Agree it is time consuming--however make sure ALL wire are label--the mor labels the better---makes it a lot easier when putting it back

Thanks for all the insight, how much $$$$ (guesstimate) would it cost to have the marina do the job??

Highly marina dependant. I would expect 8-16 man hours plus crane fee just to take it off. I wouldn't be surprised if they labelled nothing.

that's what i was thinking and afraid of. i figure the more they took their time and did it the proper way it would probably double in cost.

well, looks like i'll be loading up the car with the tool box. if anyone out there has ANY tips or pearls i'm all ears!!!

thanks again for everyones responses and i look forward to more!!!

Thanks!!!! very helpful!!!! anyone have any idea how high the boat (76 F32) sits without the flybridge? my transportation company tells me they need an escort, is this because of "wide load"?

It may depend on your states rules. My F32 sat at 11'9" on the trailer without the flybridge. In my state, no escort was necessary but wide load permits were required (which my hauler had).

i'm havin the boat shipped from MA to Rochester, NY. they say they can't take it on the NYS thruway and the Mass Pike is ????

that may be true due to the toll gates and the wide load. The height should be fine as all overpasses must be at least 13'6" by law.
