Caring for my bottom

Purchased this 1985 Trojan 10meter sedan in the water last year, had a great season. When hauled, no blisters, just layers and layers of bottom paint. Knowing that I really should have it blasted, then barrier coat and paint, I’ve decided to put it off until next year. Thus the sanding began. From what I know bottom has never been stripped and barrier coated. Plan is to just put coat of ablative on for this season, but wondering if having sanded down to gelcoat in a few small areas could pose a risk for blisters? Boat is in brackish waters 6 months out of the year, then on the hard. Thoughts?

If your boat doesn't have blisters by now, it is not going to get them.

What did your pre-purchase survey say about the bottom condition?
