F31 Flybridge Troubleshooting Gauges

'73 F31 Fly Bridge.

Helm gauges work fine. Any trouble shooting tips for Fly gauges? The RPM gauges register at idle, but do not increase properly on power... Ground issues? Connections are not new... I plan to crack open and closed all connections and see what happens from there. Battery and Oil pressure are DOA too.. Trying to figure out if I should mess with them or order a few new ones... Fly are Delco gauges, and Helm is Faria. I don't think a compatibility issue but maybe?( Yes new gauges will require new/good wiring too!) (Looks like a new ground will fix the bat gauge!)

Also, anyone know what the switch to the right of the wheel is for? Need to get one of the kids arms to reach in there and ohm out and trace the wire... My guess is its a spare line on the port side of the wheel... But thought I would ask the gang! ( Incase you cannot read the other labes in the upload, it is not the (top to bottom) Horn, lights, Spot light, Bilge, Water pump, Blower, Wipers, or PnL Lights.)

Delco and Faria go not mix . Delco must have delco sender .( delco sender works only with delco) And on delco if you have upper and lower gauges they must be dual helm gauges .

On all others the gauge and senders must match . And with dual helm you must have a sender made for dual gauges .

Tachs and volt separate issue assuming its hooked up likely bad upper helms catch hell ,

Yes, Thanks for the (idiot) link! ! I swear I read that 3 times and wasn't until I typed out my post and was like wait a minute... Dis-similar gauges... From what I understand it seems like Faria uses a more universal sender than the Delcos? My guess is now that the PO replaced the helm gauges and senders ( senders look new and have newer wiring) and said the hell with the Fly.. Well, its way more fun to be up on the fly!!!

I have an RS-11 in my future, and would like to just do that now, but it would be ignorant to not have trusty analog gauges as well at the fly for the critical temps/ pressure. Just clicked send on new Faria Tach, Oil P and CHT for the Fly! Stay tuned. Should have em installed Sat.

Thanks for the help,
Tim

Make sure you have the right senders for duel gauges . I am not sure what Faria call for .

looks like dual uses a different sender .

What about having two senders, one for each brand of gauge? If they are the single gauge variety, that should work.

It might be a lot cheaper than buying a new set of gauges.

That’s the way WAYWEGO. Exactly what I was thinking, but my guess is RPM is going to have to match since it comes off the coil..... ?

And yes senders beat the heck out of gauge prices!

Tach should not matter. You could use a sender . Tee off the oil sender coolant you have to make sure you . flow by it . Not sure if there is extra place to put the coolant sensor or you will have to do some plumbing . I would use the sender for dual gauges myself . but a sender for each is another way that will work .

Beacon has senders . The non-delco should work if its any help . Most gauges use the same ohm range except delco and some VDO . VDO uses 2 different ranges they used both standard and "vdo" ranges .
