Need unbiased opinions on Trojan boats

We recently purchased a 1977 Trojan 25'cabin cruiser. It's needed more repairs than we originally expected, but Trojan boat owners keep telling us Trojans were the "Cadillac" of boats. We've debated selling it and purchasing a 1992 Maxum cabin cruiser with a 454 Bravo Drive Mercruiser. The Trojan boat owners we've spoken to think this would be like trading in a classic mustang for a Cavallier. Any opinions?

I would not call a F-series boat a Cadilac of boats more of a Chevy. But it has a classic look and feel as it is a Classic. A Maxum is also Mid level boat. I don't know what model Maxum you are referring to so I can't be pacific. The Maxum being a newer boat will likely have more features and new styling. With the 454 out drive it will likely be faster and burn more fuel.
Your 47-year-old Trojan is needing of repairs. Would a 32-year-old Maxum be any better? The Trojan would be easier and cheaper to repair for similar repairs in most cases. Will it stay in the water? if so the inboard Trojan would have some advantage and if sitting in Salt its a big pro.
I have had my F36 for 20+ plus years And I love it of course that has a lot to do with it being repowered with diesels. Would I trade for a Maxun? Well no but its not my style boat. A Viking or Cabo sure, But I can't afford the 300k plus to upgrade.
Bottom line what boat do you like better and by how much? Another boat could have some surprises coming too, most do.

Almost forgot, Parts for Trojan may be easier to find than the Maxum. Beacon has a lot, a lot more than you see on their Trojan store page.

I guess it depends on how handy you are and how much time you can devote.
You are likely speaking of refinishing.... a job I hate but the end result is worth it.
The 25' Trojan will remain a beautiful boat as the rest of the 25' designs are going towards a floating bar of soap.
After 50 years of sterndrives, I was so glad to not have those problems any more.
The 454 is indestructible, but very thirsty. (I had/have ten).

We’ve had a 77 F26 Hardtop since 1999 and I agree with Prowlerfish about Trojans having great lines and being classics as well as Beacon being a good source of parts and advice. Over the years we’ve fixed soft decks, outdated electrical and updated electronics, galley and head. We’ve also kept our local marina in business over these years with stuff that’s beyond our skill set. Your boat is your choice. We’re glad we made our choice.

I thought this was an odd question until I saw the stern design. 2 ideas come to mind, One is to put the name above the fender holder, Another is to put a plack on the Fender holder. Of course, the length of the name is a factor and if the boat is documented.
Another option is to put it on the sides near the stern. This is often done on boats with a cluttered stern. Many sailboats do this.

Thank you I was leaning in the direction of above the fender holder I like the idea of the name on the sides a lot though
