We fished off of Cape Henry and Va Beach. We limited out early, sure was a great day. Sizes 28 inches to 44 inches. Not bad for a few hours of fun.
My sons wife caught this one and brought it in.
Va Beach skyline. This was later in the day just after we limited out.

From what I understand the ocean is different than the bay. I questioned it but found out that it is different. I see you posted the regulations. Thanks. I was not sure of it but am now.
We were only with the other boats for a short time and that was at the far edge of the group. We kept hearing that no one was catching. I was surprized to hear that. We will only fish the group to see what is there. If we think the big boys are there then we will fish that area.

You can guarantee that we watch the three mile marker. We plan on fishing the Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout. We did last year and had a good time. No winnings but we did catch some fish. Many did not.
Do you fish the tournaments?

When we fish the turnament we will use our chartplotter and mark our trail so there will be not doubt about the 3 mile marker. We use it all the time for fishing.
We hope to fish tuesday and thursday this coming week. We shall see. My son is off and wants to fish this coming week. The days could get changed but my son will let me know.
We have installed some 15 foot outriggers on the boat. They really help in keeping the lines apart. We normally fish a 6 pole spread. It worked good Friday but I did not get into very much traffic.

fishing in the morning

Prowlersfish We fished there 1/2/09 and today, We fished off both Cape Henry and Va
Beach and did not have a bite. We did hear today that Cape Henry did have a few brought in. We were at Va Beach when it happened. Anyway tomarrow we will be at the boat cleaning up and doing a few things. We will be fishing the tournament coming up this coming week. I believe as things stand it is going to be hard to find a Striper.
I hope your luck is better than ours was. Bring in a big one.

I have not heard. You never know the fish just might be there tomarrow.
Let me know if you scare up some. I sure hope so. I think they were catching them in shallow water around 30 feet today. But I was not there. We actually ran around 35 ft water ourselves and saw bait fish and marked fish but did not get a bite.

ProwlesFish, OH one more thing the Coast Guard is out checking boats. Saftey Check. They boarded us and checked us out. They asked for the usual, Certification, extenguishers, Throwable, Life Jackets and if we had a fire suppression system on our boat. Everything checked out good so they left. The were polite and curtieous. Nice to see them out on the water. It was windy and rough when they boarded us. We move poles to one side and kept trolling. They pulled up let two people off and checked us out. The main ship was cruising along about 100 yards off our side. They came on a smaller boat that was launched out of the back of the cutter. I got pictures. The didn't mind. They were there both days.

Awesome. The blackfin tuna should be offshore about now and I'm gonna try to run out there tomorrow. The wife says I have to hit the honey-do list first - I'll be workin' like a bat outta' hell to git 'er done!

Hey you all, I want a fishing report when you get back in. Sure would be nice to hear that you both had some great catches. Atleast there would be hope for me.
