Which Model Is This Boat?

Post by NautiqueJeff »

When I was young, my grandfather had a 1967 (I believe) Trojan on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Unfortunately he sold it sometime in the late 80's. I would love to find out more information about this boat, like the model, year (if 1967 is not correct), etc. This was the first boat that I remember being on as a kid. That's me on the left in the picture sometime in the early to mid 80's. Any information would be appreciated! I'd love to find a similar vessel and do some restoration work. I might even try to locate this very boat if I am able to track it down.

Here's a picture of the boat. Click on it to view a larger image.

Thanks!

The boat looks like a 28' Sea Skiff model, or similar. Think they made a 26' as well as the 28'... My father's was a 1969 model, but the boats looked very similar from about '67 on to '69. Prior to that the hulls were planked or molded plywood I think, and in '70 I think they started making fibreglass hulls.

With any luck, this pic will come through !

My folks owned this from 1977 up until 2000. I have old Trojan brochure info for this year/model if you want it. [/img]

I'm not sure. I am going to try to track it down and find out. Nobody in my family has had any contact with this boat since it was sold in the late 80's. Who knows? I might get lucky.

Jeff, it may be a long shot...but if the boat was ever documented or possibly is today and you have a name, you may be able to trace it here. Good luck.

No such luck. Thanks for the link though. When my grandfather owned the boat, it was called Checkmate. That didn't turn up any Trojans on the site though.

Okay, I am starting to get serious about looking for this boat now. From what I have found so far, it looks to me like this boat might actually be a '69. The round logo between the green and white in the photo below matches other '69 Trojans that I have found pictures of, but none of the '67 or '68 Trojans that I have seen have this style logo. Am I correct in my thoughts that this logo would be on a '69, but NOT a '67 or '68?

It looks like a 68 to me. The Warriors Head is in the right place for a 68.

It looks a lot like our '69. 28' LOA with a teak swim platform off of the back?
Same badge and panels on ours, too.
