Not fully clear on what you mean here, but will take a stab at it.....When you say extension do you mean the stub pipe that goes into the middle of the filter? Have you checked to make sure that it is not too long to prevent snugging up the filter? Can that stub pipe be screwed in further? There is a large nut around the threads that filter goes on has that been screwed up too? What size filter are you using, Fram CPH8A?

Take off the oil filter and make sure the last time the filter was changed the old rubber gasket was removed. This is a common occurance when changing oil and filter the old gasket will remain on the engine and you add another on the filter.

yes it does have that tube..when running it gets loose counter clockwise and leaks..if i swing it back up to high noon, the leak slows but does not completely stop..

Here is a breakdown of your assembly. Or it should be similar. Check to be sure all o'rings, filter gasket etc, are secure. Usually, a double gasketed oil filter will gush out oil. Just be sure all is clean and tight. Good luck.

Had a similar problem last yr---had to replace the O rings on the oil filter extension--you can get the parts at Hurrikain Marine on line--works fine now
