I'm looking for info on the differences between the 36 tri-cabin and 36 tri-fly, circa 1976-1977 w/aft cockpit. Obviously, the upper deck is in a different configuration, but are the interiors the same ? How about handling and ride differences with the bridge farther forward on the tri-fly ? It seems there is more floor space on the tri-fly.
Thank you
Jay

Welcome and hang tight...there are quite a few folks who know about the Tri cabins. Not me though...I am sure someone will offer you some good stuff.

Aaron or his dad should be coming around soon too and can possibly help you with your questions. His dad had a Tri cabin for quite sometime.

thanks for the intro jamie..... now, how can the bocknek clan be of assistance? to be honest, we never even looked at the 'tri fly' since we always liked the simplicity of the 'single command center' on the standard tri cabin. yes the tri fly has 'more room' but consider that you will have forward windows in the salon (a potential leak area) not one but two helm stations, a smaller amount of 'living space' in the tri fly salon area (the pull out built in couch is not there) no solid windshield like on the 'standard' tri cabin, and much much more canvas area will be needed on the tri fly. since it is designed on the tri cabin hull, the ride would probably be much the same. personally i prefer the single command station as there is much much less duplication and the the engine controls have a really long run on the 'tri fly' design.
just give a shout if you have any question.

dad's email is m.m.bocknek@gmail.com he owned our f-36 for almost 37 years.

Everything Aaron said plus, I find the extra bridge space on the Tri Fly is compomized by the step down and railing surrounding the companionway. Just eat's up a lot of space and is rather awkward, in my opinion. I also think the Tri Cabin is a nicer looking boat. Particularly without the huge amount of canvas necessary on the Tri Fly. Again, just a matter of opinion. Jimbo36.
