I have a pump on the wall in the head. It has a metal handle with a knob on the end of it. What is it. I think its a manual bilge pump, but both hoses are not connected to anything other than the pump. Where should these hoses be connected?

One should pickup water in the bilge the other should pump it overboard via a thru hull. Do you hear anything when you pump it, is it sucking?

My F-26 had a manual bilge pump inside the hanging locker on the port side. Pain in the ass! I'm guessing yours has the same deal, but inside the head on the starboard side. The two hoses are for (1) suction and (2) output. These get gummed up over time and the best way to check for this is to remove the cabin floor boards over the bilge - simple to do, they are screwed in with brass wood screws. You can check the floor joists and stringers while you're at it. I replaced the manual pump with a 12 volt model wired to a swith on the instrument panel, installed just below the regular auto bilge pump switch. Now I pump out the hollow area under the bilge floor --- just because I can!

It was used to pump the original Monomatic toilet overboard. They were disconnected after overboard discharge was outlawed I now keep mine in the lazarette to use as a manual bilge pump, it moves quite a bit of water.
