1979 F 26 Engine cooling system routing.

I just purchased this boat and the previous owner was paying a mechanic to replace the blown engine with a new rebuilt one. Witch he did, but he skiped town before hooking up the raw water lines. Can anyone email me a flow diagram or photo's of their engine. I am lost in the area's of the trans heat exchanger and the Riser's (how many hoses and what path the water flows through the riser). Does the riser have a cooling jacket or are we connected to the riser to let the water escape through the exhaust? Any help is appreciated thanks.

James,

You need to say what engine and Fresh water (FWC) or raw water (RWC) cooled.

I have a '75 F-26 with a Chrysler LM318 FWC. Here is a series of web pages with the FWC cooling system mapped out. http://www.coastalcafe.com/images/troja ... umbing.htm

I also scanned a few pages out of the owner's manual that shows the recommended flow configuration for the raw water cooled system. This is from a 1974 service bulletin when the dual pocket raw water pump was replaced with the single impeller pump. You can download that pdf here:

yOK, new question or questions. I routed all my cooling lines today and it went smooth thanks for the help! Ok the original engine was a 318, but the previous owner had it removed due to it being froze up and ths new 360 put in. I installed a battery today and she cranked right over, I need to know how many quarts of oil she will hold this motor is unlike a car having the rear sump. The oil pan is one big sump so I am sure she will hold quite a few quarts of oil. So I need to finish filling her up with oil (she has 5 quarts in her now) and set the timing. So Question 1 how many quarts of oil does she require and 2 there is no timing indicater bracket mounted on the engine So I am not sure how to set the timing. My only experence with Mopar is on my 1973 Charger with a 340 and the timing plate is part of the water pump. But this is not the case with this 360, is the timing indicater a bracket that bolts on like a chevy? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

OK, every thing i see says it is on the timing cover like all the others, I had been working on her for ten hours so maybe i just didnt look close enough. or it maybe hidden under the belt driven water pump.
