Has any one installed laminate wood flooring inside there boat????

I was thinking about the stuff they sell at Home depot or lowes that snapes together

I would have to glue the panels to the floor hatches but I think it would look nice.

It would look good, but I don't know how it would stand up in the long hall. That stuff is not recommended to be installed below grade. It can swell with moisture and doesn't like water. It might not be the best product to choose for a boat. I would check with the manufacturer before you commit to it.

Oh Lord! I woudn't attempt it with that stuff. The moisture would prolly reuin it.

Personally I was only thinking about some sort of Bamboo because of the resistance to moisture.....

but good luck and let us see how it turns out.

I also don't feel positive about that kind of wood floor in a boat. A buddy used the flexible vinyl plank version (TrafficMaster) in his which has less negatives with H2O.

Yea, i don't think I would use anything that doesn't have a resistance to moisture. It would just end up bad in the end.

I would love to see some pics of Hardwoods in boats though... Just to see what they look like.

i have seen the pergo flooring and it looks great but slippery when walked on with wet feet as for whether or not it was designed for the wet area for a boat i dont know...one guys boat it is going on about 5 years and still looks good from just walking on it without a thorough inspection..but i failed to mention that was for flooring...after reading ur message it sounds as if u r going to make cabinets or use it for vaneering....i dont have a thought on that but if it works let me know thanks

I thought about the same thing, but ended up using another wood look option from home depot. Its vinyle wood appearance strips and people can't tell that it is not real wood. Nice thing is that after it's installed you can pick it up like a rug and take it out to clean or get into the bilge. I recommend it.

You can kind of see it a little bit here in the v-birth. They have about 3 different kinds of wood looks. This was the darker walnut.

My plans are to use it on the floor.

the vinyl stuff....does it come in sheets?? or are they individual planks??

Grossmans bargain outlet always has the laminate wood flooring on huge discounts. I was looking at the stuff that has the foam padding attached.

If I can find a good bargain I may just give it a try. Once its down we could put a throw rug down to prevent slips from wet feet.

at home depot they have a vinyl lanolium that looks just like wood and that is wicked slippery but i was thinking of using it over my engines in a salon and cover with a throw rug that way i can easily get in there...it lays pretty flat without glue....he actually used armstrong not pergo

wood flooring

Ive seen a couple of boats done with that type of flooring, it would depend on if it is water resistant or not,
looks great, I thought of it as well, but finally settled on indoor/outdoor carpet,
affordable and durable, and best of all, if you dont like it you can toss it and do something else, for less than 75 bucks
gotta love it,

I put Pergo down in my Galley, and up to the V-birth. It's been about 4 years now with no issues. I put a vapor barrier of thick mil plastic down between the wood and flooring.
