The story starts on Mothers Day evening. I got home and fed the dogs and let them outside. When I opened the door and called for them to come in, the Lab had tree'd something over in the woods and I could tell from the howling that it was a cat.... It was dark so I didn't go investigate and my dog chases the neighbors cat all the time, nothing new.

Well I came in with the dogs and started thinking.... I haven't seen out cat since I have been home. I asked my wife where's the cat and she said he's prolly upstairs.... We searched the house and came to the conclusion that the cat must ahve slipped outside (declawed inside cat) and our Lab had actually chased our cat up the tree.

So I go outside with my flashlight and walk around calling for the cat.
I couldn't find him anywhere. So we went to sleep thinking he will come back in the morning.

Over night it stormed like crazy!
I went out and opened the garage getting ready to take my kids to school in my car... I called for the cat and heard a quiet meow, I kept calling and heard the quiet meow coming from my car.... So I looked under it fully expecting to see him bundled up under the car and didn't see anything. Kept calling him and listening for where he was, i popped the hood and didn't see him there either. I kept calling him and looking under the car because that is where the sound was, then finally he drops a leg down and wiggles it like a child dangling his legs from a play ground swing.....
I kept calling him wanting him to drop down out of where he was, well then I see his other back leg drop down and dangle as well. I realized he was stuck and hanging there... :?

I realize then i will have to jack up the car to see where he is and how he is up in there. Reason I am trying to figure this out is because my car is a Mercedes and almost the entire bottom has a belly pan across it and there is very little spaces open to the outside from under the car. Just to change the oil I have to remove two huge pans to get to the oil plug.

So I get the car up and I am freshly showered and clothed and the grounds all wet, I slide under there on a door mat and found my cat looking like this...

It seems that there was a 8" opening beside the drive shaft where he slipped up there to hide from the storm I assume, he got beside the drive shaft which may have had 3" beside it and during his climb had strattled a shifter cable and then could not get off the shifter cable. So he had prolly been hanging there all night. LOL!
With a little effort and some cooperation from our cat I was able to slip his left leg onto the side where the right one was hanging and then barely able to fit and pull his rear end out of the space between the cable and driveshaft and then squeeze his head out of there all VERY tightly. He was covered in road scum from under the car.

He's doing fine now and still stupidly hangs around the back door looking out like he's gonna test the waters again.

Curiosity almost killed this cat. If I would not hav heard him and found him I would have driven off and ground his head into the driveshaft. Thank god I heard him before I started the car..... Love that dang ol' cat...
