A/C retrofit - practical?

I'm looking at another 10m midcabin and it surprisingly doesn't have the heat/ac unit from the factory. There isn't any ductwork.

I don't really want to put a unit up top and take away the forward hatch. From the fatory, the I believe the unit was located to the right of the mid cabin where the hot water tank is located.

I suppose these units were used on a bunch of different makes/models and it would be possible to find one.

Any thoughts appreciated.

My Marine Air unit is not working and the estimate to replace it is $4000. I purchased a 12,000 BTU portable that sits in the salon and doubles as an end table since I made a teak slip over top for it. I only hook up the duct to the window when I need it running. It is very compact, comes complete with all window accessories, cools the entire boat very well, and only cost me $300 brand new at Menard's.

I plan to take my Marine Air unit from the factory home this winter and try to fix it myself. If that is not possible I will eventually purchase the new unit, but for right now, $300 is a whole lot better than $4000.

If you do most the work youself you could install a/c under 2 k or you could do like K9th or even a cruse air carry on
