Life is not all about warmth and sun... to really enjoy it I need $$.

Monthly Avg: exchange rates....
Jan 2009 $1.226 Can buys $1.00 US
Oct 2009 $1.055 Can buys $1.00 US

That is an increase in buying power of 14% over last 9 months... no wonder I see so many used US boats moving North.
One dealer I know is selling more used than new due to his import from Michigan plan.

I'm not even touching the healthcare subject...

Weather in Toronto this weekend:
H/L Precip%
Today Nov 13
Mainly Sunny 50°/48° 0%

Sat Nov 14
Variable cloudy 54°/45° 0%

Sun Nov 15
Var. cloudy 52°/43° 0%

OK so we are not much warmer than your lows but on sunny days it does feel warmer... yesterday I did not wear a jacket at mid-day.

I think I'll still stay here but on retirement my plan is to have a winter liveaboard in Fl/Bahamas area.

Tuck..you have a mean streak. :x

Seriously, once the kids are out of school, if my skills are still marketable hope to do just that. In the meantime, have a successful and thriving private practice with a great patient base, live in a really nice small-town, good schools, great people, great place to raise kids, close to lake Erie, close to big cities. Really couldn't do better except the weather is crappy for six months per year. [On the other hand have been a Cleveland Cavaliers season-ticket holder for the last 10 years, so that provides some entertainment in the winter.]

In the meantime every time you get on the boat for the next six months, may those it itchy little devils cause you to scratch incessantly

i actually had you in mind when i made the post, but decided not to pick on ya 'cause i didn't want those guys in the white coats to really show up looking for you. hehe

the other good thing about being up there is your access to some real water, right? that's where ya have me beat. the tn river is nice and all, but i want some open water type experiences.

oh well, i guess i'll settle for the warm weather. :D

I retire full time the end of this year so I can go any old place I feel like anytime I feel like it until Dr Death takes me for that last boat ride over the horizon! No plans to move south. Ya'll talk funny down theah. Seriously, we LIKE the snow, it's "mud season" that sucks. March-April we'll be around Fl gulf coast checking out the beaches, kayaking, etc. Planning on spending some time back in Cedar Key. I remember some great relaxing times there a few years back. Has it changed?

It's all good. We all seem to have the ability to adjust whether we like it or not.

this honestly made me kinda icky feeling inside. i can't imagine what it'd be like having to put a boat up like that for half a year. that'd suck donkey butt big time.

i feel for you'se guys.

still doesn't mean i won't bust your chops now and then. hehe

for instance...75 here today. sun's coming up and i'll be out on the water as soon as i go stuff my face at sonic. lol

Went fishing yesterday at the mouth of the St. Johns, here in Jax, Fl. Was a balmy 80 degrees for a high, sunny with a 10 mph breeze. Almost had to put up the bimini top. Hooked a coupla big redfish, had a wonderful lunch and managed a short nap! 8) The weatherman is calling for lows in the 50's and highs in the 70's all week. I understand some of you guys are already shoveling that white stuff! Ick!
