thru-hull transducer ?

Post by mpulsev10 »

So i am finnally about ready to put my boat into the water. I have been reading and looking for a good deal on a fish/depth finder. I currently do not have the funds to buy what i want, and i havent found anything cheap enough used to suit my needs. I however have to pick a transducer before she goes in the water. I was told AIRMAR has very good transcuders that can be used with different types of sounders. I am at a loss though. My f36 currently has a si tek fish finder with some really old looking obsolete transducers. My yacht guy said they were installed incorectly from the get go as they are 6" from the keel. There is one on each side of the keel. He suggests putting them 18" or more from the keel. I am on a budget, i would be happy just installing something for now to get me by until i can buy that nice set up like a raymarine c120 or something but i have to pick a transducer as i dont want to be hoisting the boat out of the water to upgrade. Any suggestions would be great.

thanks,
Charlie in central florida.

You need to find out extactly what unit you are going to buy as they take diffrent transducers as far as where they are mounted they should be fine where they are thats were mine are and they work fine . BTW AIRMAR makes them for a lot companys .
