Received this in an email a short time ago...FYI. Thought I would pass it along and post it here.

It is with great sadness that I have to start the New Year [2010] with the sad news of one of our friends and brothers from the Trojan Family. He has attended all the Trojan Rendezvous that we have had on the Chesapeake Bay, starting at Great Oaks to the last one at Higgins Yacht Yard.
Jere will be greatly missed.

Jere C. Shank, 59 of Rock Harbor Drive, Rock Hall, MD, and also of Chester, MD, passed away Saturday evening at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD, after a brave battle with cancer.
Born in Hazleton, PA on May 7, 1950, he was the son of Carson and Virginia (Zehner) Shank, of Rock Glen, and spent the past 3 years in Maryland after moving from Mendham, NJ.

He was employed as a software programmer for BAE Systems, in Wayne, NJ. Jere loved skiing, boating, and running. He was a PSIA Certified Ski Instructor, and was a U.S. Coast Guard Certified Ship Captain who had his 100 Ton Captain’s License.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher, who passed away in 1970.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife Carol Britten, with whom he would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on April 17, 2010; a son Jeremy, Milford, NJ; brother Lewis and his wife Cheryl, Sugarloaf; three sisters, Vicki Harman and her husband Mark, Rock Glen; Cynthia Tressler and her husband William, Sugarloaf; Patti Zelenak and her husband David, Hazleton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

I was able to meet and talk with Jere briefly at the St. Michaels rendezvous and he and his wife were very pleasant and friendly. Sad to hear about his passing, and pray for nothing but the best to his wife and family!

Jere and Carole welcomed my wife and myself aboard their beautifully maintained tri cabin at the 2009 rendezvous. They were such a charming couple. He will be sorely missed by all of us. The best thought I can come up with is that his bottom will always be smooth and his engines will run perfectly from now on.
