As a lot you know I am new to this website. But not the internet or website building. I was thinking about building a site for the Owners of Trojans. Trojan boat club for each state. Maybe that way some of use that own our boats can meet up with other people in our own state. I was going to get the domain called thetrojanboatclub.com or trojanboatclub.com with that we can have sub domains for each state. would be something like fl.thetrojanboatclub.com or pa.thetrojanboatclub.com or mich.thetrojanboatclub.com get the ideal? How many people would be interested in something like that??
Domain ? trojanboatclub.com or thetrojanboatclub.com

I think it is a great idea. I would love to meet and cruise/overnight with other boaters. I grew up spending weekends and vacations on my parent's boats and really enjoy just being on the water. It is even more fun to raft up and socialize with other boaters.
Maybe opening it up to more brands would help attract more involvement/membership. My wife and I camp alot and know of a camping club Casita (brand) Scramblers. They have a small membership, maybe 15-20. Then I found The Northeast Florida Camping Club. They have over 400 members and camp 2-3 times a month.
So if you started a Cabin cruisers Club or a Boating club etc. , it might get more of a following if the name were more inclusive. Prowlerfish is right, it might be very limited doing it by state.
Let me know what I can do to help. Roy

Why not do it here?
Make a post with a date and time for your state's Trojan owners to get together and use the chat feature of this site. That way you can all chat within one room of Trojan boaters from your state.
To me that is a good way of using that feature which so far seems to be not used.
You get to it from the main Trojanboats.net site, click top link on this page then look along the left menu for chatroom

There are some other sites out there that are broken down into different geographic areas that handle what you're looking to do. I can't speak prior to joining in with this group, but this site's certaining gotten more activity over the last year. I believe it's due to us, from all regions, with the same common interests....out orphaned brand of vessel. I kinda like the way this site's set-up ..... just my $.02

I would have to agree that I think it would be tough to get more than 6 to 12 active members and in most states none. I have been looking to buy an F32 and have noticed that most trojans are on the east coast, florida, Michigan, Illinois and our great state of Wisconsin home of the almost Super Bowl Bound Green Bay Packers.
I would love to find more Trojan owners on the great lakes and try to put together a gathering somewhere on Lake Michigan.
Good Luck with which ever way you go

I agree with LSP, I like it here just fine. But, is there a way to attract more Trojan owners to this site? The more, the merrier, as they say.
The first thing I do after I get up in the morning, is make a cup of coffee, the second thing I do is get on line, go to this site and read all the new posts, and replies to the other post.
The more the posts, the better I like it
United we stand, divided, we fall.
Just my 2 cents.

If you look at other forums that have sub-forums broken out by state, you'll see that they can't generate enough volume to dedicate a forum to most states. They go by regions. So the subset {boaters in South Carolina} is too small. Forget {Trojan boaters in SC}. Go back to why people use forums: to share konwledge about thier boats (here for most of us) or to share knowledge about something that doesn't depend on the brand of boat you own. Given the relatively small number of Trojan boat owners, you'll be hard pressed to amass the minimum level of content and participation that will attract and retain users.

My take on this is that Bob, Don and everyone else who put this site together have gone to great lengths to put this board up and keep it going with a limited budget, if any...and deserve the enhancement of this site, if a conceivable and workable idea can be accomplished. This board has survived while another one I know of is worthless.
How about a link which would take you to a region, (Mid-atlantic, northeast, southeast, etc...) then boat owners could add their locations and contact info, if they like. Then all you would have to do is to browse that link and see who may be near you. A reference page if you will...
You also need to take in account that there are many members who just don't want or have time to post as much as a lot of us do but would be excited perhaps, to know some may be close to them with same interests and ideas.
My .02 cents.

I'm sure that you're intensions are for the betterment of Trojan boaters but on the left hand side under your avatar is your location (if you have put the information into your profile, and I personally encourage everyone to do so just for this reason) and that works well to find boaters near you. If you want another Trojan boat site you can go to this site (
http://www.trojanownersclub.com/) but I don't think you'll find what you have found right here. After you've been here awhile I think you'll feel the same way. The whole group is what makes this site great not to mention good administration. I belong to a yacht club and that gives me all the group gatherings and cruises I need and if there was a Trojan boat gathering in my area I would definately jump on it but there are very few Trojans out here, so this site is absolutely necessary for Trojan boaters like myself and can also turn into an addiction. Hi, my name is Mike and I'm a Trojanboataholic, (all together)....HI.. MIKE...

I'm fine here ... what we we gain with more sites? Its more important that we all share Trojan info.
If I want to talk to the other South Carolina Trojan owner, I'll call him up ...
The other site,
http://trojanboatowners.com/ is
dead, and everyone is here now, so "
if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
And - we're helping support Bob's and the boys at Beacon - who are Trojan experts!
