seems we cant give boats away lately, whats the market like in your area? Im in NJ and its dead. Just curious

I live in Orlando Florida, I have seen this one on craiglist for some time now.

are you kidding me? it's January, all boats are shrink-wrapped, everything is gray and depressing, can only go boating vicariously through Trojan owners in more southern climes. It's either freezing, or cold and muddy. The market reminds me of another word for excrement.

The markit is poor on all boats . ( maybe getting slightly better)As far as the trojan thats been for sale on craigs list ,it it over priced . thats the price they where going for 4 years ago when the markit was good . also 21 knots at 2500 rpm ? thats wide open or real close as that engine is rated at 2550.

Maybe his wife is nagging him to sell the boat and he is making an "honest" effort.

you guys are killing me,,,lol yeah I.ve had enough of the winters myself, born and raised in the NY NJ area my whole life, almost 50 now and not sure how much longer I can get through these long winters, I am thinking of selling my f31 but I just cant except what people are willing to pay,
I put alot of time and money into the boat, which I know I will never get back, but if any of you guys know of anyone who wants a nice , clean ready to go F31, lemme know, Im not going to advertise, cause thats useless.
all Im asking is a fair price,
boats in the water in my area
were looking to move to florida , where Ill buy another trojan,,,god willing

Take the boat to Fla. thats what I would do . thats a win win

Problem with Trojan's is that only a few boaters really want them as a 30/40 yr old boat and they are so knowledgeable that the boat has to be priced right.
All other non Trojan lovers are not likely to be interested in a 30/40 year old boat when they can get any other newer boat for same money or less.
IMO Trojan's only sell if they are priced less than $20K in a good market.
We are not likely to see a good market in the US for some time.

piced less the 20k ? are you talk about all trojans or just his F31 ?

Not so Ready123. In the northwest Trojans have a great name and hold there value as well as any boat to experienced boaters and new boaters alike. An F-32 or F-36 with gas in good running condition with canvas (very important here) will sell for $25k to $60k even in these hard times. Prices have not dwindled much but it may take longer to sell.

i gave, well...let's say over 20 and below 30 for mine one year ago next week. if i were to sale today, there's no way i'd take less than 25k for it, regardless. other boats in my marina which are of the same class, so to speak, all are priced the same or a tad over.

i think a majority of the pricing issues with this 'economy' are people failing to hold out and giving in to low ballers...which in the end...hurt us all.

I would sell mine for $37,000 and that is the going rate, middle of the road for what I have. Of coarse I'm not selling but these boats have been selling here in the northwest US even in hard times. Buying at a distressed sale price only means the seller is liquidating assets that he doesn't need or use. The most common reason for selling a boat during these times is because the boat is costing for moorage and upkeep and not being used. Many boats don't get the upkeep needed due to cost verses personal interest and that's why the cheap price. Those that use there boats, reguardless of the hard times, have the attitude of Tuck, Prowlerfish and myself, among others. Hence, the market remains for boat lovers.

btw, the F-32 in Longview belongs to a friend of mine and is moored next to mine.

Northwest may have fewer to choose from and so sell at those higher prices. Over in the east the prices are a good 10K less due to the number of choices.
The cost of moving a boat by road is low so I look far and wide to get the best value... that is my view. I will agree that moving a boat coast to coast does get expensive.
Look at this list of F32's, most owners have realistic pricing for pre 1980 boats.

Of course there is this 76 F32 with diesels that is going for 110K... I wouldn't spend that for it even though it looks nice but has been converted to a day cruiser..... no stove.

I paid 12K for mine back in 2006 and felt it was correctly priced for how it looked. Could I sell it for that price plus what I put into it... not a chance. I knew that at the time and was happy to put the $$ in for me as I have no plan to sell it... plan to retire on it in 3 years.

There will always be a buyer at any price but can you put your boat in front of that person??
