Hi again all! Some time since last time I was here. Well, I have spent time working on my 10 Meter Express, decided to keep my "true Blue" in the engineroom. No diesel, just pure gasolin fun! But... Last week we got almost one meter snow here, in one night. Also on my beautyful Trojan. And the snow was heavy..... Now my windscreen is destroyed. Maybe Bob have someting on the shelf that will suite the boat,, or maybe some of you guys have something laying in the stores.... And still I am in need for a complete canvas for the same boat. I have tried several canvas-shops in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, all without no result. Is there anyone in USA that maybe will sell me a canvas, like the one davescarrs have? Please?!
In advance; THANK YOU!!

finding a canvas/enclosure is probably going to be a bit tricky. and even if you do find one here in the States, it's probably going to be very expensive to have shipped to Denmark...at least i would think.
best of luck to you!

If you know the prices here in Europ, you will be scared. The last thing to worry about is the freight cost. Think the cost by air will be around 150 dollar, by sea only 35 dollar..... I am working in transport company myself, so this must be "a piece of cake".... The worst thing is probably to get the canvas.

Beware of anyone that will sell you canvas to fit your boat with out measuring it
Here in the state you will spend well over 6000 USD for a good canvas for your boat , Mine was 4000 and I have a hard top so it was no canvas needed for the top part

Perhaps a member with the same boat can have theirs measured as a template for him. Pk could arrange payment with the canvas shop?

Because , all the frame work ,mounts etc are most likely custom made the top most likely not fit . you can check with Bob to see if they ever Had factory fit all canvas and he will be wasting money and a lot of it .Even when they measure a boat they bring out the canvas and fit it to the boat ( put it on mark remove and do final cutting and sewing )
Your talking about a big risk on something that very well may not fit
I still can't understand why a canvas maker over there can't or won't make a top
Have the told you why they can't ? There has to be more to this ?

Paul...and all others: Thank you very much for all ideas and thoughs. Here in Norway all things related to aviation, airsports, marine sports, boating, carsports, races and so on, are to be taxed. When I got my Trojan from USA to Norway, I had to pay tax for the wessel, tax for the amount of horspower in the engines, tax for the amount of cubic inches in the engines, and last I had to pay VAT for the amount on the bottom line. I gave 10150 dollar for the Trojan. Freight from USA to Norway went to 21000 dollar, and at last I payed almost 29500 dollar in taxes and VAT.... Some of you may think I am an idiot. And I guess I have to agree.
Here in Norway there is 6 canvas makers. They know what prices they have to claim. Just have a glimse on the above numbers..... When you say the canvas price will be at least 5 to 7000 dollars, well that is not so bad. Here in this country we have to pay at least that price, if I could find any guy to do the job. Maybe they are lazy, unwilling to take the trip down to the harbour.... Who knows?

foofer b: Good idea! But even better if I could buy an old used canvas, get it over to Norway, try it on the boat, if the measurments are right, well then we have an template here i Norway. And I could do my own canvas....

If I were you I wouldn't think or replacing the top with canvas. Since you're going to have to replace your windscreen, I would either build myself or have someone build a light hardtop with heating cables in it. If you've gotten snow like that once it will happen again. Let the first time be a learning experience. As my parents used to tell me, experience is the mother of invention. Perhaps a canvas top is not the right thing for Norway. If I were you, I'd build the windscreen higher and make it part of the hardtop. It would change the look of the boat a little but then you'd have a very unique and individual boat that still had the wonderful Trojan hull. Good luck.

I agree with that. We are considering a hard top in the future. WIth that kind of snow, a hardtop can withstand much better. If you search Yachtworld, you can usually find a couple of hard top examples. You may end up saving money as a fiberglass installation may be easier to find in Norway.

The weight of snow did all that??? WOW. I guess a lot of other boats that were sitting around yours would have also been trashed too, or did the storm somehow single you out?

you should be able to locale a glass company who can rebuild the frames for the 3 fwd windows and the 2 side windows by using what's left and perhaps fabricating some additional frames if it's a total loss.
These 5 sections will be easy for a competent glass fabricator.
The problem will be the two curved sections.
How well did those pieces survive?
