F26 Window Parts

Just removed bow and side cabin windows on our 1980 F26 flybridge. Wanted to reseal while cabin is apart.
Has anyone replaced the welting or weatherstripping in window channel . We removed ,but noe have to replace.
We also want to change sliding windows on side...Any suggestions on to what to use ?

Any tips on replacing , using silicone or caulk ?????

If you're replacing glass use tempered.

all the windows seem to be plastic...foreword window seems to be bowed, not flat...It also has a Taylor Made sticker on it.

I mainly need the weatherstrip...looks like a roll of fur LOL

Hey Jimmy

You can buy u-shaped brush channel just about any place. Give Beacon Marine a shout. I replaced the front cabin windows on our '77 F-26 using a post on this forum from about 4-5 years ago and have the information if you want it. The side windows are from Taylor Made. They have a plant in our area - Gloversville, NY but also bought a boat window mfr in FL (I think) years ago - that's where the windows came from and they are plexiglas. Depends on where you boat, but plexiglas or Lexan (Polycarbonate) is a lot cheaper than tempered glass, and I think the thickness you want is most likely readily available in plastic.

If you have leaks into the cabin from the area of the headline ABOVE the side windows, suggest you CAREFULLY back off the screws (machine screws with nuts on the end) a bit that hold down the handrails on the cabin top just above your side cabin windows. Dollars to donuts they are not caulked and water is just seeping thru the bolt holes into the cabin.

Back the off just enough to get some SILICONE caulk into the area under the bolt and it's mount. Let it sit for an hour or two and then tighted down again (don't go nut or you'll "spooge" the silicone out of the area).

Of course if you have the cabin all torn apart this should be an easier job since you should see the nuts and washers that are under the headliner.

Let me know if you want info on replacing the two front cabin windows that are over your v-berth. The can and WILL leak over time.
