Fuel Tank Sending Unit

Has anyone had to replace the original AC brand fuel gauge tank sensor on the F series. I know it is a resistance sensor and I believe it's rated for 35-240 ohms, to operate properly on the original AC guages. I can't seem to find one in the various catalogs.

I am having problem with mine also. What can I do to check it?

It needs to be checked with an ohm meter, with the sender out of the tank. One lead of the meter goes to the electrical post, the other to the flange or bracket,(ground). The ohms will change as you raise and lower the float. It should read somewhat stable in a fixed position. I believe it should read in the 40s or 50s range as empty, and in the mid to upper 100s when full. Mine reads all wacky.

I replaced both of mine last year with no problems. I took one to the parts store to match it up. and they had two of them instock.

Here's some good info on testing.

Testing it is not the problem, that I've done. Replacing it is what I'm looking for. I'd rather use an AC brand part if possible and not a Tempo brand.

Well then why not call Beacon or Marine Tech for the sending unit? I'm not sure that the sender was manufactured by AC, even if the gauges were. They should be able to tell you the specs, part numbers, etc.

Also, I posted the testing info for all, as well.
