Hi All,

First post here. I am looking at buying a F32 1976 the survey came back and it needs gas tanks. This one just has the two round 60gal tanks under the cockpit, should be a easy swap... except I can't find them.

Can anyone tell me where to get 2 60gal aluminum gas tanks for this boat.

Best Regards,
Michael

unless you are wanting to spend alot to have them made here is a link to a 58 gal rectangular that will fit. its plastic but certified for below deck use. apx $269.00 each
i had a quote from 8/09 from a company that builds tanks and i gave the the deminsions of the current tanks in my f32 and the quote for aluminumn was $595 each plus shipping

What do you mean you can't find them? I thought you said they were under the cockpit. ....just kidding. I had to get one in before tuck. Welcome aboard and fasten your seatbelt.

The original tanks in m 32 are made by Florida Marine. A search should be able to put you into with them. Good luck and welcome...

Thanks all,

I would rather find the aluminum tanks, but thanks anyway.

I did e-mail Bob

You all might get a kick out of this. I had a survey done on this boat and the surveyor noticed that the tags on the gas tanks read 115gal, i said that was not right and the surveyor did some research. He finds out the owner came across 2 diesel fuel tanks from a truck, had them cut down by a local shop to approximately 60gal and put them in the boat.

They look great (like new tanks) and are nicely installed but they still have the original screw filler caps on them with vents that are sealed up with some type of caulk.

Does anyone think this just might be a dangerous situation... yes I am being sarcastic. I told the broker I would not touch the boat until the tanks where changed.

You also need the correct tags on the tanks for insurance purposes.

If anyone is interested here is what the Coast Guard want's to see permanently engraved on the tanks.

FEDERAL LAW

183.514 - Fuel tanks: Labels

(b) Each label required by paragraph (a) of this section must contain the
following information:

(1) Fuel tank manufacturer’s name (or logo) and address.
(2) Month (or lot number) and year of manufacture.
(3) Capacity in U.S. gallons.
(4) Material of construction.
(5) The pressure the tank is designed to withstand without
leaking.
(6) Model number, if applicable.
(7) The statement, "This tank has been tested under 33 CFR 183.510(a)."
(8) If the tank is tested under Sec. 183.584 at less than 25g vertical
accelerations, the statement, "Must be installed aft of the boat’s
half-length."

I hope this was of some interest, just don't want anyone else to have to go through this.
