I came across this today...
http://rochester.craigslist.org/boa/1659749437.html
The pictures are of MY BOAT here in Norfolk when I had it hauled out long ago. They are posted on my Photobucket account. I emailed the guy stating that he should remove the pictures or at least state that they are of a sister ship. I wonder how much he'll get for her. Maybe I should ask for a cut.

Good deal - the ad states:
"Just needs to be waxes, has a full tank of fuel 85gal all yard fees paid. You will not fine a better boat this age any ware."
I'd demand 4/4's of the selling price if sells it for you.

Could be a scam , I did email him and told I could not find this boat at Voyager Marina ( I did not tell him where I could find it ) LOL

Here's a more detailed later post on craigslist. Still seems fishy.

I'm tempted to flag it.

This is definetly a scam...spelling errors galore. I'd play around with this for awhile and see how it plays out. Someone email him back, ask him to meet you to show you the boat...see if he asks for a deposit or cash up front. Oh...and don't flag it.
Then show up with the PO-PO
Ken, can I use this story on another forum to warn others of this scam?

notice there's no contact info? someone who would be interested would have to email this guy.
i've also had something very close to this happen to me with a house i own here locally just a couple of months ago. a guy had photos of my house and was trying to sell it. photos of the outside were my house...photos of the inside were someone elses.
once the person who posted the ad receives the emails, he/she/it attempts to use the information they can gather from the senders' email account to create ghost accounts to spam others. i could go more detail, but i'm not exactly 100% of the details myself...and i'm sick...but i know i'm in the right ballpark, let's say, due to some friends i have in certain places.
best way to handle it, as craig's list staffers aren't really people...they're automated wrist watches connected to a coffee machine...is to just hit the "flag" button on such ads until they disappear.

Jamie,
Go right a head. Use this on another forum by all means. But I think this might just be a guy who is just too lazy to take a picture of his own boat or just wanted to get interest because dare I say, my boat looked better than his. I'm gonna keep an eye on the Rochester Craigslist and see if he continues to repost it. If he continues to repost I'll start flagging.
Maybe I'll post on the Rochester Craigslist that the F26 Trojan shown in the ad "1980 Trojan Hard Top Must Sell ASAP - $1" pictures is NOT FOR SALE per the owner, he wants to keep it, no longer accepting offers. That should get their attention and I wouldn't be lying.

I sent him this reply. Might get a response, no? "How is the engine? Do you have any interior pics. Will you take $5500? Roy Oh, do you have a trailer? "
