318's and water pick-up

Just wondering if my water pick-up impellers are still good.
How much water should be spitting out of my exaust at idle (mine is set at ~900 RPM).
My temp seems to be OK but I dont really trust the guages as they are sticking a bit after some water got in them over the winter. Until I can replace them I wondered if there was a way to check the cooling??
Can anyone uplaod a small video or snap a shot of their exaust water at idle?

I think it depends on the size of the exhaust outlet pipe... mine is about 6" dia and I would say at idle the middle of the flow is about 3/4" deep.
It is not a lot.... but should just be a constant flow.
Where is your boat, I'm at Queens Quay.
Link to a video/photo of yours and I can comment.
You can get a heat gun from Princess auto and check the engine and header temps.... and the transmission while underway, a nice tool for mental comfort.

I change mine yesterday. I had to remove it because of a bolt that broke off when I was trying too loosen it to tighten up the belt. So I removed it, got the broken bolt out then replaced the impeller while I had it off.

Unless , its real bad it would be only a guess for some one to tell by a video or photo . if you don't know be safe and change the impeller , Its cheap insurance
Ready 6" exhaust ? that,s bigger then mine and mine are larger then stock .I believe mine are 5" ( inside diameter )

My wife was near so I said 6"
I'm guessing so it could be 5" but certainly no smaller. I'll measure tomorrow

well some water is better than what I got today, got the boat wet today and made it about 250 yards from the ramp when it started over heating, all I know is it wasnt pumping any raw water, so guess what i get to do tomorrow.

As I suspected I had a clog in the water jacket... some rust. Got it cleaned out, installed two new impellers and she is pouring out the exaust and the manifold is MUCH cooler. In the 3 years I have had this boat she has never run so smooth!
