A friend of mine is considering buying an F-36 with 180 hp Perkins in it. They look like they were factory installed. Is anyone here familiar with this model (1974), what are the possible problem areas, and are these engines enough power for that much boat? Thanks for all inputs.

Seems a liltle low HP wise . How fast or slow would he be happy with ? perkins makes a good engine find out the exact engine info and post it on Boatdiesel you should get some good info there . being a 1974 engine parts could be a issue

Marginal power - will probably get on plane, but it will be pushing the engines pretty hard to do it.

Should get great mileage at about 7-8 knots though!
