I'm not sure what a sportfisher is but I have a 1972 30 foot Sea Raider. Probably close to the same with the exception of you are all glass and I'm all wood above the hull.......I love my Sea Raider and hope you the same with yours..............John

I also have a 1973 Sportfisherman (clean machine) what questions do you have? By the way it is a great boat and you'll soon find out it has all the power and speed you need. Just was out to the islands last weekend with 8 on board on plane at 2400 RPM.

Thanx for all the replies. Never knew it was called a 'Clean Machine'. Just splashed her yesterday. It Floats!! This will be my first"big" boat since I've only owned 18-23 footers with those pain in the a$$ outdrives. I bought this in Dec. for 1K needed new windows which I upgraded to bronze lexan. Came with rebuilt freshwater cooled 318's w/ velvet drives and a new flybridge enclosure thats just 2 years old. Original 14X11 cupped props (which I hope are pitched enough). Yes I am in law enforcement up here in little Rhode Island. Looking forward to talking to you fine knowledgable folk in the future. Take care.[/b]

Thanks again. One question, does anyone know what wire/cable is the 'house' wire that goes to the batteries? I'm going to put a battery switch in and would like to run two batts for the house and one for the motors.

Welcome aboard, I have two house batteries in parallel. On my f-32 the house used to be on the port side engine battery but I disconnected the house from the port battery and installed two dedicated house batteries with two continuous duty solenoids as automatic isolaters. A little more work than just putting in another parallel battery on the port engine but this works well for me as I anchor out alot and don't have a genset.

Ok. How do you know what cable is for the house. The only thing I see is positive cables coming off of the motors.

Lawman, I traced my wires to find the house feed. It's not hard but time consuming. You can also check your wiring diagram. If you don't have one do a search on this forum and you will find access to one or call "Beacon Marine", moderators of this site, and they can possibly get you all the original paperwork for your boat, including manuals.
