32F backer board ?

I am looking at a 1977 32F, but have a question from the recent survey. It mentions that this boat is famous for having a problem with a common deck flange joint that uses a wood backing with single fastners.
It mentions that it is showing signs of failure due to moisture intrusion, and that the backing boad inside the galley cabniet needs to be replaced.
How hard is this to do, and how common is it ?
