Shifter Handles/Hand Grabs

okay, i'm not sure of the best way to describe what i'm looking for, so cut me some slack. :P

at my upper station, i have shifter levers with the little balls on top (red for gas, black for shift)...you know the ones.

what i'm looking for are the ones that are horizontal/long, and can be easily grasped with the hand in order to move them in unison. make sense?

i can't seem to find them anywhere. any thoughts?

thats all I could find

but you could pick up some 3/4 rolled steel and have it chromed and just drill and put a set screw in the back with an allen key. Or do the knobs thread on? if they do same thing only drill a bigger hole on the bottom, thread it and put a small nut on first to tighten against to prevent spinning

I want to install these newer morse controls. A little pricey but they do what you are looking for.

now those look cool! They have gone one simpler than I thought and drilled 2 holeswith a nut inside and the plastic cap...no having to use a die to thread it

Tuck,
The levers shown above by lancematic have replacement knob/levers available. You maybe able to adapt them to your shifters.

Tuck, you see how the handles of the controls curve inward...the ball handles are close, to use with one hand. Don't your levers look like this?

I replaced the original balls with larger ones similar to these. ..which put them closer to one another for tighter control.

Trojan used straight levers with teak handles...earlier for their models.

those are the ones I installed on my mid cabin, they're really nice. Great Lakes is usually a lot cheaper, I got them for $267 (did shift and throttle) back in January from Boatfix.

If you look on the new "Used Parts" part of the forum, Bob has a set there for sale.

yuppers. i've seen 'em. but what i need aren't the levers themselves. what i need/want are the hand grab thingies. the ones that are horizontal.

nope. not trying to tie them, but that would be coolies as well. but no, that's not my intention.

i'll take a photo of my downstairs controls this evening and post. i have them downstairs...and i want 'em upstairs as well.

if i could find an f36 around here to move up to, i wouldn't have to worry about this...with THIS boat. hehe.

hey tuck cant remember which ones downstairs on your boat pic would help

i was not suggesting you do that. imo you dont want the controls connected that would really hinder you theres alot of times i use each throttle independtly and if tied together you could not vary each engine seperately if/when needed. i dont think that would be a good thing
