SeaDog was hauled out yesterday for the winter and, as a winter project, I want to replace the counter top in the galley. I am going to the marina this weekend to try to remove the old counter top and hopefully use it as a template for the new one to make sure the fit is precise.

Does anyone know how it is attached and how big of a project that is? Any special tools I should take with me? The built-in stove has already been removed, but the sink is still in-place.

I am not a wood worker at all but my brother-in-law is and he is going to help with the project but he can't come to the marina with me so I will be removing it on my own.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be watching this thread too as I need to do the same.

Just not sure if I should re-laminate the existing, or go with Corian.

Either way, it all has to come out to be done correctly.

This is what I found on my F32 and may be the same for your tricabin... the counter top is supported on wood strips (1x2) around the sides and is screwed down to these strips. You work from underneath the counter top to free it.
In some cases you may have to unscrew the strips because you cannot get to the screw heads that hold the counter top in place. I made sure that the screw holes in the underside of the counter were repeated on the new counter top and found that it dropped right into place.... for the above problem strips I installed them on the bottom of new tops prior to re-install.
That was my experience with the counter top in my head on the F32, the galley top looks the same.
The counter back splash and sliding doors were all new laminate, made using old as template by my local kitchen counter top factory.
