Hi all,

I have just been looking for an oil pan drain kit. Some type of hose with a fitting I can attach and replace the oil drain plug that can easily gotten to to drain the oil. This will be a permanent install.

If anyone has anything like this attached to their Chrysler 318 engine, I would be grateful in knowing the brand, model, etc they are using.
I have only found ones that are used for Mercruisers, Ford, Volvo, none for the Chrysler 318. Perhaps one of these may work?

Larry, if you look at mine you'll see it's parts you can find at any hardware store. If your just wanting to replace the drain plug I gaurantee you'll find it. You could probably just put a hose barb in then connect a piece of hose. At the end of the hose put a petcock on it.
IMHO it would be a lot cheaper than buying a "Special" kit.
Take your drain plug with you to the hardware store.

I like the looks of your set up just wondering how hard it would be to do on a pair of 454 crusaders in a F36? If I seen the pics right all you have to do is supply the waste bucket am I right?By the way beautiful boat.

Thanks Allen. I have a 5 gal. bucket w/ lid that has a 3" round screw off cap in the middle. Can drain both engines and the Genny, wipe any drips with a paper towel, put the top on and head to the big oil drum.

I've worked on 36 Trojans before, shouldn't be to hard. I would imagine you could even bring a hose up Fwd from the Gen.

I hope so would make it nice. Just got the noat sept.25,10 and have a nice list for the 'winter' projects.(just not the bank account) So start with the HAVE to do list then migrate to the rest!lol

I don't have quite as an elaborate setup on my F25. I have a hose connected from where the drain plug used to be that is about 2.5 feet long. I have it attached to a clip at the top with a cap on it. I then just hook it to a pump that I have attached to a 5 gal bucket and then drain the oil. I will try to get a picture of it for you this weekend if you still need it.

Thats like the system I was advising earlier, should be a piece of cake

I would like very much to see a picture of your set up. I can't get around as good as I use to, and making things like an oil change easier is of great benefit to me and the boat more enjoyable to have.

on my f32 my 318s has the drain plug in the forward part of the of the oil pan. there is not another plug anywhere else on it. i thought that would be easy to put in a barb fitting and hose and suck the oil out. however i found the engine is tilted back enough that i would not get all that much oil out of it and have since re installed the original 1/4 inch plug and suck the oil out through the dipstick getting a lot more of the dirty oil out. if your engine/drain plug set up is similar you might take note.

I have a X-Change-R® oil change system it is a bit pricey but works great and makes changing the oil a breeze the hard part is carrying 15 gallon of oil to and from the boat. The system both drains and refills the motors without the mess. Again it's pricey it came with the boat so I don't know if I would have run out to buy it but now that I have it I wouldn't be without it.
