Just found out today that my port tank is rotted out. Anybody replace theirs yet with the plastic square ones? If so what size and/or dimensions? Another thing on the long list for the winter project(s)! Thanks in advance for any and all info.

I thought you of all people already had it done. From what I'm seeing I'm going to have to go with todd 35gals or moeller 45gals. I'm kind of leaning towards the moeller tanks. Got til spring to make up my mind, was kind of dis-heartening to find tha tank leaking but thats boats for ya!! (BREAK OUT ANOTHER THOUSAND)

!00 gal. aluminum here.
Do you guys sterilize and drink the water??
One of my many projects is to replace the "heater hose" Trojan used from the water tank to the pump then fwd to a manifold. My water tastes like hose.

You may want to replace it with the clear reinforced hose with the blue/red lines in it. Someone used the heater/fuel line from the tanks to the pump then after the pump to the T fitting. Rest assured I wont have any of that petroleum based hose on in the spring when the new tanks go in!

We keep plenty of bottled water onboard for drinking, coffee, etc. I don't use the boat water except for shower and cleaning. Probably fine but not quite the same taste. I could tap in a purifier/softner...but that would require more maintenance and cleaning...as if I don't have enough of that already!

Tell ME about it!! I carry the bottled water also, gallon jugs for coffee (a must in the am) and smaller bottles for whenever.

We have well water at my marina and it tastes and smells bad. I add about of 1/3 cup bleach each time I fill the tank and that takes care of the smell. I keep plenty of jugs and bottles for coffee, cooking and drinking......John

On my last boat I learned a few tricks about water systems. We drank from the tank for 3.5 years. Now this is the first time we've ever had an aluminum tank. I'm going to replace the rubber lines, then this spring do my routine then have the water tested.
